English tips

Hello, it’s me again with more English tips.

Remember I was talking a few days ago about the proper use of the third person verbs and how you need to add “s, ies or es” to the end of the verb when you use the pronounces “she, he, it or a name” ? Well you may be thinking is a good tip but how am I going to know when I should use “s”, “ies” or “es” at the end of the verb?
Easy, just take a look at the verb you are using, it can be tricky at the beginning but with some time and practices it will be natural.

Please, let me explain you how.

When the verb you are using ends in the letter “y” and is preceded by a consonant the “y” is changed to “ie” and you just add “s” to the end.
Example:
-          Study    / studies
-          Fly         / flies
-          Carry     / carries

If “y” is preceded by a vowel, just add “s” to the end of the verb
Example:
-          Say        / says
-          Enjoy    / enjoys
-          Buy        / buys

When a verb ends in “o” just add “e” with the “s” and if it ends in a sibilant sound like: “ch, s, sh, z or x” do the same.
Example:
-          Do          / does
-          Go         / goes
-          Push     / pushes
-          Fix          / fixes
-          Watch  / watches

Well this is it for now, I hope this tips can help you out on your daily communications and remember, please stay tune for more.

Thank you,
